Fricks Cream of the Crop is, in fact, a title More info | It's been a workhorse but unfortunately, I think it's about time to retire it. Some of the parts inside need to be replaced and because the lens is discontinued the shop said it would be very expensive to repair. I've had the thing for almost 14 years!!

From what I hear, canon is or had already dropped their support in dslr. they dont want to service dslr anymore. It's sad and funny. funny because they were big on wanting to hold their ground on the dslr and not wanting to venture into the mirrorless world.

Have you check directly with canon? With the gear you have you should easily qualify the canon professional services that gives some additional repair perks.
