Excellent set, especially this one IMHO, it could easily have been a still from the film 'The quiet man' taken around the same time and location etc.

Thank you, 2slo. I have a few more from this little series - I have been thinking about posting them for sometime - I do remember taking them.
As the originals were Grey scale colour conversion was not necessary and I needed very little tonal correction.
I hope the guys in the pics have had a good life.
It was about that time I changed my Leica IIIB for the M3. Surely I can't be that old?-?

I know the feeling, I took my first photographs in the 1960s with my first camera, a very well used Bencini comet! I always wanted a Leica, I have the Q2 monochrom now which I really like but I'm put off buying a new M due to all the problems reported by unhappy owners and long repair times quoted (6 months isn't unusual) so I'll stick with Canon for now.

Interesting camera - I have just read up on the Q2 monochrom. I'd like to try one for a bit of street photography and nostalgia's sake. I am aware there are quite a few problems with the new Leica and it is a bit off-putting to say the least for a camera that costs over twice what my first house cost.:-) My wife keeps telling me to get a new M series - but it'd cost an arm and a leg to equip with it with a useful range of lenses and I am fairly happy with the Canon R7 and the the L series lenses.
I still have the original receipt for my M3 - 104 quid it cost with the f2 Summicron lens. Most people thought I was bonkers spending that much on a camera in 1959. I still have it (and I think I am still bonkers!) - I keep promising myself I'll put a film in the M3 to try it out after years of it being idle - I have kept a developing tank and changing bag etc:. But the price of film and chemicals seems to have hit the roof.

Michael Lastblackdog might know the little chemist shop in Talbot St in Dublin - Hursons I think it was - where Paddy, the Leica salesman did me some great deals on all things Leica and knew what he was talking about!:-)

Real life at that time, Rosey - after all, it was in the late 1950s and life was a bit less complicated than it is today. Thanks for commenting - it makes me feel like I captured a moment in time!:-)
