Well you could "ms"-spell it as Phocus and then it could be "PoP". But then that's probably stretching things a bit too "phar".
 :p

love your signature! it says exactly how I feel. Thanks.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Gosh! :-D But we've only just met . . .

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

We've gone mirrorless!

NOT me! I’m too old for that! I’ll stick to my DSLRs the time I’ve left!

Pekka’s gonna ban me for a week!!

Pekka doesn't seem the vindictive sort.

I've seen this saying around. Maybe you have, too. "When you're in a hole, stop digging."

All in good humor. Relax.

Hello folks, we have happy news to share with all of you.

Our new forum, Focus on Photography, is ready for all of you to join and participate in!

As you know, we have been busy testing the site out and ensuring that it works well. We have also attempted to make it look familiar to POTN members so that the transition is as easy as possible. To assist with that, we have had an advance group of POTN'ers come over and test out the site for the last few days. Several excellent suggestions on how to improve the site were made and incorporated and we greatly thank them for their effort. The site is better off for their work!

So, without further ado, please come and join us. The URL for the new site is:

https://focus-on-photography-forum.net (external link)

Please set up an account and start acquainting yourself with the new forum. You will find a lot of familiar faces and we are confident that you will love it. If you started threads on POTN, feel free to re-create them at Focus on Photography.

I will definitely join up, but wouldn't you know I can't access it from work. Figures.

I am unable to load the page. I have tried with Chrome and Microsoft Edge. After a few attempts my router reported the site as Unsecure and Blocked.

Any ideas on what I can do?

I don't consider myself too old for mirrorless...I am simply reluctant to spend thousands on a body and lenses and compatible accessories, when I don't find a real need for eye focus tracking and more than 10 fps stills, and other advantages that accompany the mirrorless technology. I rarely shoot animals or sports any more, I leave that to the parents of our grandkids!

I had a similar issue the other day - turned out my content inspection firewall (Fortigate) couldn't classify the new website URL because it was "too new" and therefore blocked it.
It may take a while for vendors to properly classify the site, in my case a quick e-mail to Fortinet support got it fixed in a couple of hours.

*edit
I would like to think that firewall vendors exchange classification information, but no idea if they actually do - anyone know?

Most top-tier service providers maintain active lists of domains to block
due to high spam activity, and I know there are several real-time lists
of offenders which are used, SpamCop.net being just one example.

Simple answer is yes.

Of course I'm all right! Why? What have you heard?!?

The new site looks good. I registered, posted in a few threads, posted a few images, and even started a thread.

Thanks to all who made this happen!
