You mean your's doesn't even shoot videos? Man... You need to check out the (insert cheap-o brand) point and shoot... It has more times zoom, AND does video... How much did you pay for your camera? You could have gotten *above described camera* for $89 on the day after Thanksgiving!

Camera was 8. Add 10 more for the total package. :lol: :lol: :lol: You are just telling me now that I could have saved a bundle and captured motion?!?!?!? DOH!

I was shooting a football game with my 70-200 f2.8L this weekend and one of the parents made the comment "man I bet you can shoot 2 or 3 blocks away with that lens".
I just laughed and said I wish!

And once when I had my 28-135 with the hood attached someone made the comment that the lens must have cost a couple thousands because it had that "THING" (hood) on it. lol

People never cease to crack me up when they come up to me and say "oh my god that's a big camera!" (my 1D Mark IIN with 70-200 f/2.8L IS attached) and i just want to say "its not a big camera, its a big LENS... get it right!" but i usually say something a bit nicer than that lol.

I don't know if these experiences apply but here they are:
1. Near my house is a collection of old buildings set up in a kind of 19th century village. I was there one morning early--just about the only person there with my gear on a tripod (can't remember which). I was by the building that was the administration and the curator came out and asked me what I was doing. He indicated that I could not be taking photos for commercial use. When I assured him it was for personal use, he said ok;
2. San Antonio. I had my Pentax 645 and was shooting hand-held. I was in the commercial area just off the riverwalk, I can't remember the name of it, but it's a collection of craft shops and other commercial places. I was taking a shot of the back window of a souvenir shop. It was not a display window but they had put shelves in it and were displaying glassware in the store. I heard a knock on the window and the woman shopkeeper was waving me away. Then the police woman acting as security for the store came out and told me I could not photograph here. I argued that I was on public land and had the right to shoot what I wanted. She insisted I had to leave but was backpeddling when she said it so I knew she understood what I said. I continued to shoot away.

Film: Leica M-4, Elan 7E, Rolleiflex 2.8f, Pentax 645 -- Digital: Canon Pro-1, EOS 5D Mk III
EOS Lenses: Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX - Canon EF 17-40 f4.0L - Canon EF 24-105 f4.0L - Canon EF 35 f1.4L USM - Canon EF100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS USM - Canon EF100 f2.8 Macro - Other stuff: MR 14EX - 430EX - 580EXII - ST-E2 - TC1.4x - TC-80N3

The DNR guy was looking at me funny when he saw me out and about with the 300mm f2.8 L IS with 1.4x and 2x TCs, all on my tripod. Maybe he thought I was going to be (bang bang) shooting some of the eagles in the area.

a few years ago i thought i'd join a local walking club. Turned up for my first day, foubd the members to be a bit on the stuck up posh side, but however i decided to carry on with the walk as it was a great day for a walk on the hills, so pulled out my 20d with 17-35 lens to take a few shots and overheard two of them talking "oh he must have got that as a christmas present" grrr. Really made me happy when we discussing where we were on the map and i pointed out exactly where we where and got the response oh no son thats wrong we are here, i said i dont think so but they continued no no your wrong sure this is only your first day out with us {i forgot to mention to them i used to teach navigation skills on the mountins} the look on their faces when i proved them wrong.
its the little things :)

Reading this entire thread has entertained me for quite a while. I've enjoyed very many of your posts and specifically find Dante's to be the most interesting. Eventually I'll have some stories of my own!

5D III, 24-70L, 85L II, 100mm Macro, Apple gear... too much.
