I was framed!

Please delete.

Just out of the sake of being gracious to a board I have active on for 2 and a half years, I try to not let any post here in CC go uncommented on. (No, I don't comment on every one, but if there is one being ignored I will step up to the plate.)

In that spirit, I just want to say that this is an excellent example of a deleted post. There are two main reasons for that, first, replacing whatever text or image was there with the phase "Please Delete" not only conveys the spirit of what you intended, it does, in fact bring about the result you were hoping for.

Further, this is enhanced by the efficacy of the delete. There is no trace of the original post anywhere! No latent image, no lines of text in the margins. Just the phrase "Please Delete".

Also to be noted, is the politeness you demonstrate with the choice of the word "Please" - someone with lesser social acumen would have simply said "Delete".

All in all, a very refreshing post, concise and to the point, yet conveying your thoughts with unusual clarity.

yet surely this is dadaism at it's finest, after all the subject of the request is both there and not there, as we cannot know that something has been dleted and the echoe of the command remains hanging , as it werte , in mid airt, or whther the request is to delete te request.

perhaps the one making the request does so in the sure knowledge that the request will not be deleted thereby inviting the reader to reach a quandry of Zen proportions , a realisation of such improbability that a state of enligtenment is attained, in which case the request is a noble one, in servitude of the greater good,

Titus simply had a post he wanted deleted. Nothing more and nothing less. The other 2 decided to make something of nothing in a whirlwind of BS. We were rolling our eyes at the BS.

wow, i was overwhelmed with feelings while reading this thread! at first, i was slightly disappointed. i was expecting a tale of criminal debauchery of some sort, mafia doublecrossing, police interrogations, so it was with a racing heart that i clicked on the thread, only to be greeted with two simple words "Please delete." and while i applaud the proper use of upper case letters and punctuation, it did little to revive my anticipation of what i thought could have become a great thread.
and then i was saved! my next feeling was thrilling, it was enlightening, it was most humorous! a great smile filled my face as i read the second post of this thread, a review of a thread that was not meant to be, a post who took the negativity and misplacen-ness of the original post subject, and twisted it into a positive, welll-meaning, beautiful post! it was most endearing and it filled me with the warmth of a thousand soiled pants.
then followed the usual internet forum acronym post, the one that usually explete the same feelings as you have, but compressed into four letters or less. it is amazing that a - to some - seemingly random combination of letters can express such a colourful and graphic scene, a scene of one person laughing so hard that his very posterior expels itself from the body. i wonder who thought of that first? did it perhaps really happen? who knows? i will search my medical journals for an answer. it will perhaps be the subject of a new, interesting thread some day.
and then, the next post. ahh, what a post! delightfully devoid of any thoughts into proper case placement of letters, punctuation and even the rightful spelling of certain words. surely the work of a genius - it read like a poem. a pure pleasure to feast one's eyes on.
and then i was puzzled. it did not occur to me that people could be so robbed of comedic and artistic value as to not see the fun, beauty and excellence of the previous posts. there was rolling of eyes - why? did they feel of more worth than the earlier posters, merely because they either did not 'get' it, or simply didn't bother posting about it? i don't know.
what i do know however, is that more people should see the fun in the simplest of things, and try to turn it into something worthwhile and lasting. much like framing a scene and pushing the shutter can do exactly the same thing. now THAT's a critique everybody should follow.
