Ever wondered what a 200/1.4 looks like?

It's actually the front lens from an old military image intensifier. I don't know the manufacturer. It cost a fortune new, around 1980. It doesn't actually mount on the camera, I just posed them together. I'm actually selling it on eBay (UK only), but it would suit an enthusiast, as you'd have to adapt it to fit, and it has one element of yellow glass at the rear. I don't know if using PS would enable you to remove the yellow PP. It's one of those projects I never got round to. Anyone fancy it? Current bid is £14.99 ! It weighs 5.5kg!

lol would it really work out to 200 1.4? or did you just make it up since it was so huge. sounds like an interesting project for someone who likes to tinker with stuff. i thought it looked like it wasnt actually on there.

It's actually 170mm f/1.1, but the focal plane is close to the rear of the lens, so it needs a relay lens (which I also have with it) to throw the focus out further. That makes it roughly 200/1.4. The front lens is 150mm across, it's quite a beast!

Amazing :D

Can we have the link to it please? I guess (without the relay lens) it's a C mount lens ,or similar?

...and in other news, scientists are reporting that they may have discovered the first terrestrial black hole in Fareham, UK and have warned the public not to venture too close to this area.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that no light has escaped from this area for a number of days now and soon all of the UK may be in darkness...

:D
