Save a few bucks:

Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS
Canon 24-70 f/2.8L
Tokina 12-24 f/4

Throw in a low cost prime or 2 later if you feel the need.

I'd rather buy quality that will last and don't mind paying for it. I don't plan on replacing my zooms any time soon.

My first prime will be a 35L i was about to put that in the mix:rolleyes:

The Tokina is hardly "quality that won't last"...

The ultrawide could stay on the 30D permanently if/when you upgrade to a full frame, foregoing the need to spend mega on an ultrawide FOR full frame (same FOV).

Don't sell your laptop for a camera body though. You can get more out of the 30D and notebook than a 30D, 5D and no notebook.

Hmm that's what i was thinking.

Thanks for reminding me of that thought, cdi-ink

Actually i should use the 5D (or whatever body i get next) for UWA and the 30D for Telephoto so the 16-35L would be the right choice here.

Just a thought the 10-22 almost has glass element to match the L wide angle lenses. It has 1 UD short.
Features three aspherical lens elements (two types) as well as a super-UD glass element for high image quality at all focal lengths

Of course if you hate your mac and/or want to get something faster later anyway, by all means sell it while it's not technologically worthless. :)

But now i am most likely going to get this line up;

(1) 70-200 f/2.8L IS
(2) 24-70 f/2.8L
(3)16-35 f2.8L

That's my set of lenses, now used on a 20D. I have not been feeling a need for anything more yet, and I've been using these three for a couple of years now. 'Tis a far better selection of lenses than what I have for my old Nikons that I used for decades.

I may look into a couple of primes some day, depending on what I do for an after-retirement business. Photography is one possible avenue, and for conventional portraits I would consider a 50mm prime and possibly something slightly longer. The 70-200 just plain looks silly in a studio setting.

Your desk is entirely too neat and clean...you need to work on that :)

By the way...where is the key you use to wind up your MAC toy...it's in the back I believe? :-)

I'm not jealous of the 17" Powerbook. I already have one.

I'm not jealous of the lovely printer. I have a printer.

I'm not even jealous of the pretty blue feather duster. I have a green one.

But all that space on the desk? I'd kill for that.

That's a fact. Actually, I have the 17" Macbook Pro. I do have Boot Camp installed on it, and can run Windows, but don't. I haven't found any reason to yet.
