Title says it all. I will be going up to New York City this Saturday and I would like to get a good shot of the skyline. I usually get into NYC throough the Lincoln Tunnel. Are there any good places around there to get a good shot? Maybe a public overlook or something?

make a stop at liberty state park. that gives you a great shot of the down town skyline. very easy to get to right off the NJTP.

You can also go up along Blvd. East in West New York (which isn't far fom the Lincoln Tunnel). You should be able to get some great shots from there.

Call the Chamber of Commerce...Vacation and Visitors Bureau...

Go to the top of the Chrystler Bldng and to the Top of the Empire State Bldng in mid town Manhattan...

Take one of the many ferry boats on either side of Manhattan...
They have docks on the Brooklyn/Queens side and the NJ side of Manhattan...
The Borough of Queens is pretty good too...
Check the local City/or individual Borough maps for small park walkways in Queens, on either side of the 59th Street Bridge...

There is a Citi Bank Corporate building just off the 59th Street Bridge in Queens...Possibly there is an observation deck or restaurant on top of the very tall bldng...call there...

Call the Chamber of Commerce...Vacation and Visitors Bureau...

Lastly, Someone living right on the periphery streets bordering the East River would know where to shoot from in Brooklyn or Queens...

The Brooklyn Heights promenade is absolutely fantastic.

When I visited several years ago we spent the last night sitting there watching the sunset over lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. And afterwards there is a great vegan Kosher Chinese restaurant on Montague street!

I really hope that someday I get the chance to go back with a decent camera and do the view justice.

Michael.

i've wanted to try the brooklyn promenade, how do you get there from manhattan if taking the battery tunnel?

and i second the blv east in west new york. If you go further south on the walkway, there is a side street that not alot of people hang out at to take pics. Good spot there too.

there is a park on the brooklyn side of the east river between the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhatten Bridge, with great views especially at night. if u have a nice super wide you might get both bridges, and the skyline.

I think it's called Fulton Landing where the water taxi stand is...if my memory serves me correctly.

Here's the scenery

i agree. there's a park there you can setup a tripod and take shots of the skyline. i drove along there yesterday on the way home. the empire state building is red and green right now. i was wishing i brought my camera as i stared at the skyline.

Yup that's where I go... it's either there or some gazebo in Guttenburg?
