So I'm looking into getting my own website up and running here pretty quickly. I am looking to find a place that can host the site and maybe even have some basic templates that I can use to build the site. It doesn't need to be anything fancy with a flash intro and such, but it would nice to have my own domain name and e-mail address to look more professional. Just the basic format with a contact page and a gallery (I do real estate stuff) would be sufficient. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks for your time.

Hey

The company I use, www.hostmonster.com (external link) are great! $4.95 per month, 200Gb storage, 2000Gb Transfers, all you need. It also has all the scripts for photo galleries ready to install! So you can have a photo gallery going in like 5 min! lol. Have fun!

I know, I know, sounds like an infomercial, I just really love these guys!

Did you use their site builder that comes with the hosting package? The price is right but I couldn't find any examples of how the site would look with their builder. I'll keep poking around their site as it looks promising. Thanks for your reply!

The site builder is pretty good. It makes the pages and you just use the editor in the page to edit the content, its pretty good. The other good thing is that it has a thing called Fantastico, its a easy PHP script installer that comes with 3 different Photo Galleries. They are great and work a treat! And they install in about 2 min, you can try all of them out!

If you are going to buy the hosting with Hostmonster could you please click the link I provided, as it gains me some money! If you dont want to thats fine too! Hope it works out for you. And also, their support, telephone, and online chat is AWESOME!. 24/7!!
Also, if you need some help, you can PM me through the forums here!

The software I use for my photoblog (www.aussie-photo.com (external link)) is called Pixelpost. www.pixelpost.org (external link). It works great too, and is all automated!

Also, if you use the demo login, you should be able to use the site builder and all the photo gallery scripts too! Just to see if you like them.

Another one for godaddy.com here. :D

One tip though...invest on making your domain private. In a nutshell, your personal info is masked by godaddy's info. Go to their site to read more about it.

Good luck. :)

I use Netfirms, but I find that my site gets slow sometimes. I will consider changing my hosting company when my contract expire in a few months.

As for building my web site, I kept it simple with html and CSS which I wrote myself. I want a fast loading site (hence the reason why I want to change my hosting company), so flash, while nice looking, doesn't quite cut it for me.
