 Hi all, I currently have an opportunity to purchase a Tamron 200-400mm lens for around $200 AU (roughly US$150) Has anyone owned or used one? If so would it be worth it as an improvement on my current Canon 75-300mm f4 - f5.6? Given that I mainly shoot sport and the more focal length the better? Any assistants or advice will be greatlt appreciated, especially on theings like speed of AF and sharpness of the lens or even example photos!. Thanks in advance

For $150 you can't beat it. I just sold mine for $250 to a friend after I bought the 100-400L. I shot with it for about 5 or 6 years and loved it. Actually the friend I sold it to has a 75-300 and is very happy with the 200-400mm so far.

Thanks! thats a nice positive to start! I'm only intending using it in the interim until I can afford something better like yourself too :)

I've had the lens righy after it came out. At the time I thought it a very expensive lens, after tax($701.) Still love the lens, still use the lens. For $150. that's a great price.

These are not the sharpest from the lens but I was using a slow enough shutter speed to blur the props. It is heavier than what your uased to but you'll get used to that.
