Just gone from the 350D (RebelXT) to the 30D. It only arrived yesterday so not had much chance of having a play yet but it should get tested today :)

Very first impressions with just the design and ergonomics of the 30D make me feel it was worth the upgrade.

The 350D is an excellent camera but I did want the extra little features the 30D has to offer and the more robust design...and after reading the many threads on here about the differences I took the plunge, so thanks to all in helping me make the decision.

Off to play with my new toy...;)

Gratz on the purchase. Great upgrade. The ergonomics is great on the 30D. The wheel makes a big difference with the ease of use. Have fun with your new toy!! post some pictures later.

Congrats... give us some more comments after some use, I'm in the same boat just waiting for the funds. Upgrade is not top of my list right now but I know I want the 30D.

Enjoy :)

Hey great move! You won't be disappointed. Sus out the picture styles and download a few off the Canon website. They're a blast!

I changed from a 300D to the 30D and it's fantastic. I can't recommend the 30D enough. I've only used it with the Sigma 12-24, Canon 50 1.8 and my new toy, the Sigma macro lens, the 105mm. It's simply a joy to use, and as mentioned above the wheel makes things so much easier.

I did the same upgrade a few weeks ago and I am soo much happier. The size and weight feel much better. Bigger viewfinder ;) Alloy body instead of plastic!
Aside from ergos though, 1/3 stop ISO, better AF (especially low light), and cleaner ISO 1600 are giving me a lot more good shots. I find that with 1/3 stop ISO I rarely have to use ISO1600....ISO1000 and ISO1250 are a blessing for indoor sports!

This point is petty I admit. But... It aggravated me how the XT would put files in separate folders every 100 pics (according to file name) e.g. IMG_1299 --> IMG_1300 a new folder would be created. The 30D puts all files in one folder. Ahhh so much easier when dumping a full 2GB card to the PC.

I've just taken a couple of photos and when I downloaded them to pc, the very 1st pic I toook with the 30D said...IMG_3047.

I was panicing at first thinking, "This aint a new camera!!!" But I realised I'd put an already used card in with some pics already on it. DOH !!!!!!:o

Actually, scrap that last comment. I don't know what I was looking at, but opening the images in Zoom Browser and my 1st pics say IMG_0001, IMG_0002 and so on...:)

Congrats! Made the first move myself. Still have the XT as a backup, but it hasn't come out of the bag since I got the 30D.
