How many of you guys use ZoomBrowser from Canon? How does it fit into the whole cycle of photo software, does it have something that is unique and exclusive?

For those of you who use it has it been a worth while effort that really has made your processing quicker and easier?

Thanks for your input.

ZoomBrowser is all I use now as it works great with raw conversion. I am working to fully understand CS2 but still use the faithful Zoom for now.

I used to use ZoomBrowser, but since I got a new computer, I cannot print. I says that there are no tasks available in this category. Can anyone help me out?

Welcome to the Forum! Is Vista the operating system for you new computer? Have you been able to print anything else with your new computer -- outside of ZoomBrowser?

Only time I use it is if I want to convert a RAW file as close to how an "in-camera-jpeg" would have appeared, with little fuss.

Otherwise, for most RAW processing, DPP is much more powerful.

For sorting and organizing images I found Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 to be great (and free!) It's a slight less powerful organizer than in Photoshop Elements, but you still get to use keyword tags, and the like, and even has a few editing tools like Red-eye, and cropping, and basic brightness/contrast tools.( I think.) If you ever move up to Photoshop Elements, I think it will let you import your Album and tags there (May even be able to import it into Lightroom.)

I have XP Windows and yes, I can print anything else apart from when I use zoombrowser.
By the way, I upgraded the zoombrowser as I thought it might hel me out, but now I can't use it at all as it function very slowly og does not respond.
My computer is new with a lot of power, so that's not the problem!!!

Is it only Zoombrowser doing this, or are you experiencing it with DPP and others too?

You mentioned you upgraded it, you may try uninstalling, then re-installing it.

Strange, I can't think of what else might be causing it.

I am using 'Zoom Browser' (ZB) to Auto Rotate my pictures so I do not need to do so manually one-by-one. I also occasionally use ZB to see the 'Focus Points' that were used when I took the shot, for example it records which one of the 7 Auto Focus points were used when I took a shot on my 350D, so I can check focusing. It is also useful for seeing a quick preview of shooting data (e.g. Exposure Time etc). To Edit, Catalogue my images and add tags I use other software.

I only use to it download images from the card. Maybe a fast discard of really bad images and then onto Photoshop.

What I like from ZB is that it automatically creates a folder labeled with the shooting date.

I use zoombrowser all the time to print my borderless 4x6 photos, but not for anything else. Not for editing.

I would suggest uninstalling ZB and reinstalling it. I think most of these programs will do what you want, it is just what you get used to and feel most comfortable with --Goes back to whats best?, Ford, Chev. or Chrysler.
