Portrai/Wedding Lens, which one?

I'm in the market for a new lens. I do a lot of portraits (home studio environment) but have also been asked by a family member to do their wedding (I know you're gonna say don't do it but it's me or nothing as they can't afford a wedding photog).

So my question is, do I get the Canon 17-55mm f2.8 IS EFS or the Canon 24-70mm f2.8L USM.

I currently have:
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM (will sell this)
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM
Canon 50mm f/1.8 MK II (Nifty Fifty).

So which one would you guys get?

PS. I have a 30D body.

17-55 for the 30D any day!

I vote for the 17-55 because I believe you'd be better able to deal with the gap between 55 and 70mm FL than the loss of 7mm FL on the wide end. In addition, the IS could come in handy in low light portrait situations.

I already have the older, but still good 28-70L and have just ordered the 17-55IS. With a crop camera, the 17-55 is probably the perfect focal range for most wedding shots.

Ah well...I may well be in the market for a 2nd hand 20D too. But don't tell my missus. We've got our 2nd baby due in June so she keeps telling me to stop buying camera gear and start on the nursery...

Between those lens I would choose the 17-55.

For crop camera 17-55

I voted for 24-70L because i have large sized-sensor bodies [1series&5D].

BTW Tareq...that's a pretty impressive gear list you have there my son.

I voted 17-55. It's sharper than the 24-70L wide open, and for weddings, it's color reproduction is much more natural looking.
