5,000. That's a lot of posting. I'd be embarrassed to find out how much time it took to post all that.

Or would I? There are those on this, and other forums, I suppose, that would look upon this post count with some disdain. Most of the 5k are to be found in "chat" threads. Some would say that these forums are not for "Chatting", but for serious discussion of photographic styles and equipment.

I would agree. This is the entire point of the forum, as I see it. But is that all? Could the forum be summed up in so short a manner? Is not the forum made up of individuals who are, in fact, social creatures? Yes, we all share the desire to snap a picture, create art through the medium of the lens, but we are more than just camera bodies and apertures. We all have interests and other subsequent hobbies. We all have cares and passions that extend beyond photography. Photography is but a means by which we express our passions and statements to others.

"Chatting", as it is said in a derogatory fashion, is not to be frowned upon, but encouraged. We are a group of people from diverse backgrounds, diverse educations, diverse work histories who share the joy of capturing color and light in our cameras. We can, in a healthy and safe environment, share our day, our hopes, our dreams and our photos. We do not exclude photography from our discussions, but have seen photography as a part of the warp and weft of our lives.

Questions are asked and answered. Confusion is eliminated by means of others shedding the light of experience. Those who know, share. Those who do not know, are not afraid to ask.

It is community, not "Chat". Those who do not understand are merely less than what they should be.

I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.
