some robins from today

these were all taken with a 20D and the 100-400L @400mm with Tamron 2x TC so 800mm

1)

These are good. I must be jinxed, cause I had both the 1.4x and 2x Canon TC's and neither one was worth a crap on the 100-400 or the 400L prime.

lol, these are the first ones that I have taken that I have been happy with the 2x on, usually they turn out oof, I think I may have finally got the mf under control :)

I honestly think it's a problem with the Canon brand TC's as other brands like the Tamron behind a Canon lens seem to work. I also think they may work better with the bigger lenses, beyond 400mm and with the 5D and 1D bodies rather than the 10 series bodies. Just a guess, but yours came out very nice for any 2x.

yeah it really seems to be hit and miss to me, some days I cant get a pic that clear without a TC :( today its very bright here

I forgot to mention these are even at 400iso as well :) so I am very happy

btw the # 5 pic is with the 1.4 I believe, or maybe there was no TC I dont recall
