You don't actually mean an MTV Super Sweet 16 do you? The ones where rich parents pay hundreds of thousands of dollars on a party and the children repay them with arrogance and disrespect?

Having to please a client like that might prove to be very difficult no matter how much skill you have.

Do have a read of Franks links though, they can help a ton! :)

Have a look in the 'performing arts' area. you'll get some great info on shooting concerts etc etc. I've seen the MTV show. If I was doing it, I'd start off shooting it like a wedding, ie: pictures of the spoiled brat getting ready, spoiled brat in limo blah blah. Then I'd switch to 'concert' mode due to the crowd, probability of name-brand singer or spoiled brat doing a performance, then i'd switch back to wedding mode and get spoiled brat leaving the party etc etc. Then I'd switch to 'war photographer' for when the police arrive to stop the spoiled brat friend fights, drunkeness, friends that were'nt allowed in because they weren't wearing gucci..and so on and so on.

If MTV are there shooting, you'll have to contend with their cameras, lighting, sound guys, assistants.........

Sounds like the toughest gig imaginable. looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Wow, how did you get to do that? Did they just see that you were a photog in thier area?

I would suggest to go out and get very fast lenses because I dont think 4-5.6 will cut it. Your 430EX should be fine.. but the lens is what I would be worried about

saw that show once and what a joke, raise your kids to be like paris hilton, good idea! I'd need an extra 0 added on just to not tell the kid to shut the beep up :)

I'd much rather have a 580EX than a 430 as you can do a LOT more with it if you know how to use it, as for the glass, again would also like to see something more if possible - some photos you're going to want a small DOF and others you're going to want to see the background, so best to have a lens that can do both - I would say the 70-200 2.8 IS if you can swing it or have a local place that rents them. Of course its tomorrow night so might not be feasible time wise :)

Hire yourself a 17-55 f2.8IS and a 70-200 f2.8IS for the event and take on board csm's comments.

I'd imagine that he's celebrating Cinco De Mayo. Not to celebrate Mexico's victory, but to try and forget last night;)

These are just some the of the pictures I took for myself. I gave the rest over to my boss. There were five of us. (My yearbook advisor also runs a photography company, we are his assistants for everything. Sometimes we get paid sometimes we don't. We are working on commision for this and I already have orders on my stuff for around 300 dollars commission.)

I actually got home at about 7 the next morning. It was awesome. The girl was very down to earth actually, she was nice to everyone and didnt seem spoiled at all. She was cooperative for everything we asked.

When i get more pictures i'll post them up. Also I shoot this with a 70-200 f.2.8 Sigma i bought just the day before. My flash was also hooked up to a Quantam battery so recycle time was fast and I had no problems.

Hope yall like the pictures.
