I saw this slug? ??? and grabbed my camera (5D) with Canon 100mm macro lens with full set of Kenko extension tubes (2:1 macro). When I took this photo I notice this real tiny gray/blue insect. Anyone know what it is? ???

It is a springtail which feeds on the slime of the slug.

Agree- it's a lovely springtail . Didn't know they eat slug slime though !

I also thought a springtail, but what type? ???
In the National Audubon field guide to insects for North America (they could use the photos posted on this forum ;) ) the closest match was the snow flea. Could that be it? ??? After all there are only 2000 species of Springtails and 315 species known in North America, quite a lot to choose from. :lol:
