The other day we went to our neighbors to take some shots of their girl that was going to prom. Well their were a bunch of couples and all their parents...most had point and shoots and one lady had a 350d and I said hey nice camera I have the older version ( 300d) she just blew me off. My husaband was there too and he enjoys my photo hobby but hasn't really wanted me to spend much on it. I've had my camera for more than 4 years and have been wanting to upgrade.

Well later we were all inside and someone commented on my nice big lens...just a 100mm macro but with the hood it looks much bigger and the lady with the other dslr said well my camera is one better than hers!!!! I was like holy cow did she just say that??? So later that night my husband brought over a cd I burned for them with all the pics and they were so happy to view the pic and that lady was still there and she said oh I could have burned a cd too but I just didn't have the time. She also brought up having a better camera and my husband said well ours is for sale because she is buying a new 5d ( he knows that is the one I want) So he came home and said why don't you buy that new camera you want. I was floored!!! I guess I love that snooty woman now, she just got me a new camera!!!

Now I just have to get the nerve and spend that much...it is hard to do:D

This story sounds like an excerpt from the script for Desparate Housewives :p

Be sure to bring the 5D and mount a 24-105 IS lens on it to put that poor excuse of a human in her place.

Or maybe it is the pride of your husband, for you? Sounds like you were ok with it? Nice to have a partner like that eh :-)

So when are you getting the 5D? :D

I upgraded to the 5D at Christmas and plan on keeping my 300D. It is a great camera (snooty lady was wrong.)

Pressley, be aware that the 5D is just the beginning of your cost. You should budget approximately $1000 more for one or two more lenses to use with it. Only your 100 Macro and 50 1.8 will work on it. And it seems a little rediculous to use a $100 lens on a $3k camera. I guess what I'm saying is that to step up to the 5D will most likely cost you much more than the cost of the camera alone.

If it were me, I'd pick up a 30D, a 17-55 f/2.8 IS and a 70-200 f/4. Those 3 together cost $2699 at B&H and the 5D alone costs $2799. Use the $100 difference for some filters.

I woulda said something simple, and in a genuine tone, like, "It's nice to know that you feel superior because of a camera."

A sorrowful, and sincere, "It's sad to know that you feel superior because of a camera."

Modern medicine permits men to have breasts and women to have penises. I guess if she wants one...

Some women had penises even before modern medicine intervened. They were called 'husbands'
