I'm thinking about buying this lens used. Have there been any noticable changes that have occurred that would make me need to take in consideration the age of the lens? If there are, what date code did the current versions start coming out at? Thanks

No changes. You should think abuot a new one during rebates - it's like $515 at Amazon right now and yuo get a warranty.

Is it June 6th yet??

It is instant rebate.

And to the OP, yes get it!
Just find a good used 70-200 f4 deal and ask a seller for a sample shots.

I never heard of anyone complaining about a bad copy of 70-200 f/4 so far.. but who knows... :)

If new one is cheap.. used one is always cheaper..
If not.. no one will buy a used lens would they? :D

To the OP: no changes that I know of except for the fact that some have IS and some don't.

Buy direct from Amazon, price 537.38

Add to shopping cart, go to check out, get 50.00 "Instant Rebate"

Bottom line 487.38

Sorry, missed it by a few cents.........

that's not the price I'm getting using your link. did you have to enter a code somewhere or something? i had planned on going out to a brick and mortar to buy one because i hate waiting for delivery but for $487 i can wait a while.

This was the first lens I ever bought and just this week I finally replaced it with the 70-200 2.8IS.

Which means, I'm probably going to get rid of mine. Question is, what would be important to most forumers here the age of a lens or the quality of photos it takes? Being it's 6 years old I'm a little weary of trying to sell it.

I also get the same price (537) when added to cart. Dunno where you are getting 487 from unless you think they forgot to add the rebate in.

If this is infact 487 I will ask for it for my b-day next week.
