Help with ID and a plant disease

First this "little" guy was buzzing around and was too fast to get a great shot, but does anyone know what it is? It's about 1-2" long not counting his "beak/nose/necter-sucker"

And this is some type of disease fungus or something on one of my oregano plants. The other plant had it two years ago and after picking all the yucky leaves off it did fine and never came back. Now this year it's on my new plant (was planted in the early fall) Anyone know what it is or how to get rid of it?

I think it's a hummingbird moth. I think I've seen a couple of them here before.

It looks like a very fast moving animal - great job capturing it!

Yes its one of the Hummingbird hawk Moths quite a fascinating moth to watch buzzing between flowers. Nice catch.

Wow! Good eye, I didn't see either bug! When you see it in person it really doesn't look like bug damage, it looks like a fungus. thanks!!
