My sister-in-law is getting married near Charleston, SC this Labor Day weekend and has asked me to take pictures. For a variety of reasons (many of which have been discussed at length on this forum) my wife and I feel it would be less stressful and have a better outcome for everybody involved if instead we were to pay for a pro as a gift to them. Does anyone here know of a photographer in Charleston that is reasonably good at a fair price? This won't be a big wedding and they are mainly expecting a few pics of the ceremony and reception with a minimum number of formals. I have not hired a wedding photographer in some time (my wife and I had a very small wedding and just had some snapshots taken by the minister's wife) and so have no idea how much to pay, so some guidance there would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check Craig's List or Google "charleston SC wedding photographers." That should give you a few options.

I am taking those routes but was hoping someone here could give me some feedback rather than just randomly calling some people off the web or out of the yellow pages. Neither me nor the bride and groom live in Charleston so there are not a lot of good contacts there (although I am pursuing a few avenues for reserch.)

Hey tweatherred,

My name is Mark and I've recently opened my wedding photography business here in Charleston, SC. I've been shooting weddings for the past year or so for a family friend in upper SC. But this past October I decided to venture on my own here in Charleston. I"d love to shoot your sister-in-laws wedding. Since I'm trying to break into the Charleston market my prices are supper low. Feel Free to check out some of my imagies on my site. www.markanthonyphoto.net (external link).
And if you don't want to hire me then just let me know and I'll refer you to some of my friends here locally. Thanks!!

Mark Anthony
