So I purchased a 5D about a month ago and everything has been fine. I recently (June 2) shot my first wedding and during my review and post processing I would notice that some of my pictures would momentarily show some red and/or green pixels then they would suddenly disappear. At first I thought I was imaginging spots, then thought I had dead pixels on my LCD. Neither was the case, I had what I found out was called Hot Pixels on my sensor!
I felt sick to my stomach.
Fortunately I can say that these hot pixels did not ruin any of pictures as lightroom automically fixed them BUT I did not want to have to think or worry about them everytime I went shooting, plus who wants to pay so much $$ for a camera that has this problem?
So I called Canon last Monday, explained the problem and they told me to ship it to their New Jersey location for replacement. I did so via fedex overnight, they received it Wednesday and sent me a confirmation email on Saturday that they are working on my "ticket". Last night around midnight I received an email saying that my camera is on its way and when I checked FEDEX this morning I see that it was already delivered to my home!
I wont be able to get it until much later tonight to know whether or not they repaired or replaced but talk about FAST hassle free service!
I'm curious if anyone else out there has dealt with hot pixels before?
