A woodwind instrument made from pvc called a Didjeribone (slide didge) and the tribal sound is certainly very different especially with reverbs and delays.

Nice image!
Can I play? :D

Just noticed your post - thanks Roy, updated. That pic was taken last Oct and you can tell how much attention I was paying when posting! Gary has both tenor and alto sax. A little homework wouldn't hurt

Cheers again ;)

I'm a reed player myself, so I'm quick to spot the difference. By the way, I used to know David Redfern many years ago, when we were both doing jazz photography and both using Hasselblads. We used to bump into each other on a number of occasions and places. What's that about it being a small world?

Yeah small world - had a very surreal weekend just gone actually, a mix of international musicians where people knew people knew people and surprised each other about "how the hell do you know such & such" and "AND you know him? He's my buddy form 15 years ago" etc.. Weird! [I helped organise a drumming workshop]

Maybe I should change my sig:
"David, what musical instrument do you play? Cos I know what one Roy plays" "I play the Hasselblad, just like Roy!"

Righty ho then lads... Here's a couple I finally got round to.

Firstly, Tonynho dos Santos, from Brazil, during the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoghaire (Dublin) in August.

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/stasber/image/88713486.jpg

Secondly, Clinio Cucuzza from Italy, during the closing tour concert of Niwel Tsumbu's Clear Sky Ensemble, with Niwel framed in the background, at the Cork Jazz Festival a couple of weeks ago.

One more, I kinda like this one, Tonynho again, this time from the Clear Sky Ensemble concert as above. I don't think it's possible to take a bad pic of Tonynho ;)
