I've never been to the track so I don't know the lay out, but if you guys want to meet up somewhere I'm sure I can find it.

Unfortunately, there's lots of catch fencing at Mid-Ohio, and far away enough from the spectator fence that it's not worth trying to shoot through. If you've got a long lens, you can try to shoot through the rare unoccupied photo hole, but you'll probably have to contort yourself to get a decent angle. However there are a few fence-free places (at least they were last year) around the track - The inside of T1 and T7, a nice stretch from the inside of T9 to the Honda bridge over T10, and the inside of T14. Those are the only ones I've found over the last few races, not sure if there are more. The inside of T11 doesn't have any fence, but there is a guard rail blocking most of the view of the track, and safety vehicles blocking your view of the oncoming cars, so it's tricky to get anything decent there.

I'm planning to go on Sunday. Boom, can you define "long lens"?

If you're trying for the fence holes, I wouldn't go any lower than 200mm. You're behind a low spectator fence, and the catch fence is at least ten feet away, and the hole in the catch fence is maybe a foot high and 3-4 feet wide. It's just really hard to get a decent angle to shoot through them because they're usually too high or too low from a spectator's vantage point. They'll probably be occupied all day and it's a popular spot, but you might try the holes at T8, and maybe outside of T10-11. I've never shot from the T2-T3 area near the track entrance, so that might be an option, but it too is very crowded.
