1D Mk III Shipments delayed

Both of my local cameras shops where I have 1D Mk III s preordered called me today and said that they recieved emails from Canon stating that the 1D Mk III will not begin shipping again for 2 to 3 months.

They called to ask if I wanted to leave my deposit until they began shipping again, the shipment I was waiting on was suppose to arrive 7/24, one store was suppose to get 12, and the other store had 8 ordered.

I have to believe it since its 2 differant comapanies and they were offering my money back.

Another classic example of (drumroll) good salesmanship. B&H sold a boatload today.

Allocation is probably down to pre orders now instead of sales rewards from FY06. Tope performers in the regions were given first crack at selling initial units I'm sure, the smaller stores fighting for onesies/twosies.

Canon has likely told reps that pre-order sales will get priority now and it's level playing field. So call campaigns for DEPOSITS are being instigated on email waiting lists.

Yep, I called BH twice today, once at 9am est and at around 930am on a different issue, but still asked if they had any M3's in stock. Both times was no, and no idea when. A few minutes later I got a call from here saying BH had stock. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I also received an email from here with info about a small shop in Michigan that had them in stock. I called them prior to BH having them and bought two, from Kalamazoo, lol. I always like that name. So Friday, I will be back into EOS photography and also back to two M3's, lol. What do they say, feast or famine?

Wait, I musta missed something. You sold the ones you had? And now you've just bought two more?

Are you the one selling them on Amazon for $5500? :)

It's most likely because the AF issue is completely fixed however it will affect production for three months. Makes sense. I'm sure it's not a marketing ploy, I'm just glad to see the issue resolved.

I guess I am lucky to have called this morning to B&H and ask if they had any. I got mine ordered today. Every store that had some ordered got some today. Even our little camera store here in town got in 4 or 5. Lots of the online stores got in a boatload today.

i guess that's why both Amazon and B&H recieved pretty big shipments within the last 2 days...

Tried making this thread an hour and a half ago but it doesn't seem to have received such a great response. But I figure that the people here are going to most likely be the people most interested in the thread (if at all) so I figured I'd mention it here:

Hmmm... I put in for one-day shipping on my Amazon order from last night, to arrive Thursday. Just checked and it still hasn't shipped yet. No emails from them or calls from the CC company for an approval. Had hoped to try it out for a couple days and take it to the ALMS races this weekend, but looks like it's not going to make it. Really don't want to get it Friday night and try to figure it all out in a few hours.

Amazon is notorious for the shipping not updating .... particularly on overnight/one-day shipments.

Was it listed as in stock for $4500 last night when you ordered it? I thought it sold out early afternoon...
