Firstly thanks again to everyone who left very helpful comments, I really do appreciate the time people took.

I am still in the UK, but I will be returning to Spain with a 400mm 5.6 and a 70-200mm L 2.8 IS, and a 1.4TC. I haven't had much chance to try them yet, so more to report when I get them home.
But I was asked to let you all know what I eventually bought.
Bye for now.

I heard that no carry-on is allowed on any UK flight? You gotta find a case to protect those two new babies.

Hi,
I just brought my 20d, a 17-40, the two new ones, and the converter through with no problem, I could not let them out of my sight. Although when my bag had to be scanned I said to the guy "please be careful of my babies" and the silly sod took it literally and thought I´d stuffed 2 kids into a small bag........the worlds gone mad!:lol::lol:
