I first posted on this sticky and then found this thread...
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=79584

This thread is longer and more active. I don't use the battery you are asking about so can't help you there...

Try the other thread, I seem to recall people asking about all types of 3rd party canon batteries. For what it is worth, the 3rd party BP511's work fine in the canon charger and don't get stuck...mainly because you can easily grab them with you whole hand and move them in and out.

It's when you put them in the camera that it becomes a problem. You can't get your hand around the battery at all....thus the need for prayer and/or unconventional and scary removal techniques!!

Thanks for the info. Well I think I'll try buying one since it's much cheaper than the Canon one and hopefully I can pry it out.

just recieved my second set from sterlingtek and they fit perfectly and it only took about 2 weeks to send back the ones that didnt fit and receive the new ones... I would and probably will buy from them again... and at that price you cant go wrong... I got 2 batteries for 33$ including shipping... by far less than only one of the canon brand batteries...

yes, I bought 2 batteries from them including a charger. So I have two in my grip, switch them out and put two in the grip again. While the other two are charging, non canon charger and canon charger.

Just to say the fitment issues were solved with the manufacturers a while ago. I've sold a lot of Sterlingtek batteries in the Classifieds section without any problems - and I'm cheaper than buying direct from Sterlingtek too :-)!

I have ordered from SterlingTEk and have like 2 of the 1800 mah and 1 of theri 2000 mah batteries in the BP511 size.

No problems using hte batteries in my Digital Rebel and 40D! Maybe a bad batch is what they got....

I was just cleaning out my camera drawer today and found 3 sterlingtek BP511 batteries in their boxes, which I had forgotten to send back after I discovered they wouldn't fit in my 5D. So I called Sterlingtek today to see if they would replace them and they said no. Even though the problem was on their end, I didn't replace them within a year so they won't take them back.

I guess I won't be buying from them again!

Going to try sanding down the edges to see if I can make them usable so they don't just send up in the landfill.

I never had any problems with Sterlingtek. But quite honestly, it's your fault for not sending it back in a reasonable amount of time. You can't expect any company to accept a return for a product after a year and say that there was a problem with it? I'm sure you are being honest but there are more dishonest people that there are honest people out there.

You're right that it's their fault but I would guarantee you that if you did send it back within, let's say even a month period, they would have replaced it with no problem. But a YEAR?
