I'm not changing my order. I've got a great deal pre-ordering from Ritz with the military discount and all. The updated status on the web site is that the 40+kit lens combo is "Now Shipping", but the body only isn't expected to start shipping for another week or two. The wait won't kill me.

I'm going to jump on the Ritz deal, as soon as Malone gives a report of how things worked out for him...ie shipping condition..etc. Darn! just paid off the Military Star Card.....time to charge a bit.

I canceled my order with Amazon and placed an order with Berger as well. Good guy to talk with and told me I would get one off of tomorrows shipment. I didn't select next day shipping just told him regular ground is fine. He told me he has 25 bodies coming in tomorrow Sept 1 so if anyones wanting one best get it now.

If I were buying, I'd get the 40+28-135. They're including the lens for only $200. Cheap walkaround lens, but even better if you decide to sell. Easily make $150 on the deal, making your 40D only $1150.

Tomorrow, or Sept. 1? Two different days.

Digitally_Altered, I'm sure you probably will anyway but can you post a message when it actually shows up tomorrow? If they have more I'll be driving to NY for a pickup :D

why is it that only a select few stores have the 40D available? Are these preferred vendors or is it luck of the draw? I do not understand why B&H or Adorama does not have any to sell right now.

You have a point. When I called Adorama & said Amazon is shipping today, he said BS. It hasn't been released yet.

Also, this is interesting. From berger-bros.com Forum here:

Military discount? I didn't know about that.... Is there a way to apply it at checkout, or is there a different way to order?
