You could buy a used 20d, and get a brand new 5d. The 20d is similar in quality with the pics as far as in the 40d...,as well fps. A mere joy of both worlds. Problem solved. Or just say F' it and Buy a Mark II, full frame, weather sealed, 8fps etc.

(jumping in air) I love my 5D! forget about the FPS. You can do it in 3, just practice. The IQ on the 5D is well worth it. For everything else your gonna shoot like landscapes, portraits, etc.... IMO you could crop the 5D and get the same picture and quality of the 40D's crop factor.

Sep 03, 2007 07:37 | #26 The 40D's improved AF and 6 FPS makes it a better canidate for action and a good stitching program will handle the landscapes. 1DsIII - 1D IV - 5DS R - IR Rebel -14L II - 35L - 135L - 400L 5.6 - 2 x 580EX II & CP-E3 - 270EX II - 1.4xII - 25mm Ext. - Angle Finder C - Induro/Induro - SkimmerPod II - Toshiba I7 - NEC Spectraview - Pro 9000 II

I have absolutely no desire to go back the a larger sensor. The image quality from the current EF-S cameras exceed what most of us will ever need and it is more often the photographer's technique than the camera that limits picture quality.

As others have stated, 3fps can be very limiting when shooting action.

For the outdoor stuff, I'd get a 40D, because the burst rate is twice as fast as a 5D, and you'll get some additional reach on all your lenses. Step back please... I'm armed with a camera...
