I am really pissed now I canceled my order with Amazon and placed my order with Berger-Bros last Thursday as I was told I would get a body on there Friday shipment and then Friday they told me my body was shipped so now I find out I didn't get one shipped (phone call to them) and my name is on a list.

I don't like being lied to and will not do business with a company that will lie. So if anyone knows of any 40d bodies in stock I'd like to purchase one now.

I was in the same boat, with regards to my Amazon pre-order. On Friday, the ship date reported on the Amazon website changed from Aug 30 to October 1, so I was tempted to cancel (especially as I had pre-ordered back on the very first day the 40D was listed on Amazon). However, I decided not to cancel, and was pleasantly surprised to receive an email on Saturday indicating it shipped out from Amazon. According to UPS tracking, my 40D is on a UPS truck for delivery today!

You might try checking Ritz Camera, as I know they still had some in stock over the weekend.

Do not cancel until you sure that the others have in stock.

I ordered yesterday from Wolf Camera (I think they are same as Ritz). Website says shipping now. When I checked my order status a few minutes ago, it said back-ordered . I called Wolf, and was told it will ship on 9/13.

So much for my trip to the zoo this weekend.

I bought one from my local store Sunday afternoon. They had a few in, but already had names on them and I got the last one with no name.

AND I LOVE IT!!!!

Gliderparentntn, you are better off ordering from one place and sticking to it even if they go out of stock before you get yours. You will be higher on the list for the next batch.

If you cancel and order from somewhere else who claim to have stock you don't know how many they actually have or how many people are in front of you and you stand a good chance not to get one there either. (remember that stock numbers are not updated continuously so even if 5 are in stock they may have already gone by the time your order is processed)

That's exactly what happened to me. Mine is on the truck as I speak!!!

Yea I know, I got worried with Amazon's inconsistencies on ship dates and read where Berger-Bros had them in stock so I called and they sold out of Thurs shipment but told me I would get one on fridays shipment if I placed the order so I did and cancelled my Amazon order now only to find out I was not told the truth and I blew my Amazon order to boot by cancelling. I'm one that takes one for there word and when he told me I would get one of fridays shipment i said ok and then was told friday it shipped on top of that only to find out today it did not so I'm not real happy at the moment. So yea my bad decision for jumping ship from amazon so now I pay the price.

Try locally, you might be surprised. I got one here in Phoenix at one of the three large stores--they had 5 total in stock, 2 body only and three kit. Someone cancelled their body only and I jumped on it. They didn't even try to rape me as per usual--$1299.
