5D vs. 40D iso 100 f/8 RAW color comparison

Well after playing with my new 40D (which I love), I felt my poor 5D feeling depressed. So I decided to give it another test. This test was to see a color comparison between the two cameras. This test is not meant as a professional test, just to satisfy my eyes on color accuracy. So please be polite and no put downs, I also don't want or need tips on how to do the test better, its good enough for me. It was done with a color chart printed on a Canon I9900 printer which shows dots because of macro lens.

Think the 5D colors well some of them jump out at you more than the 40D

When I put the mouse over the 5D swatch, why would the 40D seem brighter? And what does that mean?

My guess it could be from a couple of reasons,
1. the 40D sensor is a bit more sensitive to light
2. the shutter on the 40D is a bit slower
3. the camera was further away from the subject so more light was available

Thanx...if
1...good news for avail. light shooters like me...
2...wouldn't that show up on the EXIF? or would a variance in shutter speed NOT be indicated...i.e. it shows 250/sec but may really be 200/sec?
3...more light would change the exposure setting, unless the bod was set at MANUAL...and that WOULD be the most obvious (and easy) reason...

In the pictures the color chart took up the whole sensor, this was because I put the 5D closer to the subject then the 40D (1.6 senors).
In this test it wouldn't show on Exif data because both cameras were set manually on the same shutter speed, aperture, iso, picture style, etc.....

The 40d colors look slightly duller. By itself, I am sure I would not have noticed and I would have thought the colors looked great. I still do think the 40d colors look great. But with the A-B comparison, there are slight differences. Could be some of the variables mentioned above. To me, it is too slight to make a difference. Especially since the slightest boost of saturation would improve it. And most people will do a little PP on their shots anyway.

I vote for the 5D... that friggin camera is timeless!!

Well that confirms something - the 5D has a heck of a lot of colour noise at low ISO.
