1st time shooting portraits

Got my lighting kit recently and trying to soak up as much as possible from the extremely talented folks here. Special thanks to those who are always willing to share their craft.

Unpacked the lights for the first time and put together a makeshift shooting area in my warehouse. Had a willing test model (My sec) who thought it would be a kick too . A very pretty young lady that I hope enjoyed this fumbling photog in his first attempt.

Had lots of fun and much to learn. Just got to remember...baby steps

You made a good job of these. No.2 is especially good, very dreamy.

I don't think that No.3 works for me because of the lack of eye contact. There is no indication of what your sec is connecting with.

Lighting is better in 2 & 3 and exposures are about spot on. No.1 is a bit flat with respect to the lighting.

I liked number 3 the best. Eye contact isnt necessary in this case. It is obvious to me at least that she isnt actually looking at anything, but kind of dreaming off into space.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Very much appreciated. On #3 we wanted to take advantage of the light that was shining through the window. No flash was used on this pic.

Hmmm, I'm thinking you may be right on the lighting on #1 looking at it again.
