US$1499 for the kit. No sales tax. Bought it at my local Samy's Camera (external link). I had put a deposit down for a body only, but when the shipment came, there were only kits, so I took one.

The kit lens (28-135 with IS & USM) isn't bad at all. The IS works great as seen by the photo below, which was shot handheld at 1/15 sec...

$1.249.00 after selling the kit lens to a friend for $250.00. I got the kit because it was the only one in stock at BestBuy.

Ah I confess - impatient and impulsive. Went and bought one from Jessops today (took two different Jessops to find one in stock). Body only £786. Don't care if it's over the odds. I've got one :cool:

NZ$ 2700 - body (40d) - 50mm 1.4 - 3 year warranty - nothing to pay of 18 months and no interest.. oh and $300 worth of free prints.

so thats US$1900 all up.. (roughly)
