Analyzing the EXIF data from my Canon EOS 30D, I've noticed something interesting:

Camera Type: EOS Low-end

Is this what Canon really thinks of their 20/30/40d? ;)

Can you post a pic with EXIF so we can take a look at it. Don't have my40D to hood up to the EOS utility at the moment, but is that something that could be set there? Perhaps someone is playing a trick on you. :D

Canon's market segmentation will eventually, but not till they have to, go the way of the dinosaur. What is interesting to me and will of course cause hatred toward the brand is the type of segmentation that they do:

* Disabled AF - even a novice needs AF to work
* Inferior Viewfinder - even a novice enjoys a viewfinder
* Subclass advancements (LCD not VGA, AF-ON not on popular grip, micro lens adjustment missing)
* 30D & 5D will not format a 16GB card.

Charging extra for these things is fine, but Canon does not do that. They have 1D(s) $4,000 & $8,000 3lb huge cameras that are their top tier. Even the 5D has much that separates it from what their best is that you really get the feeling that they are not personable to the mental enjoyment of their user base.

The 40D is the start towards giving some of the already paid for, tested, been there done that in film technology. I really look forward to the 5D replacement has showcasing Canon's new attitude on what constitutes DSLR advancement.
