Its not exactly this lens, he just doesnt have a pic of it. He said its the same thing except its a 75-300.

What do you think i should offer for that? Hes wanting me to make an offer.

Those lens' are FAR FAR from the same one. The only similar point that they have is that they both can go/are 300mm lens. The IQ and quality are light years apart.

This is more then likely the lens he has: http://www.usa.canon.com …tegoryid=150&modelid=7444 (external link)

But as for an offer, I would say $75ish.

It's definitely not the "same thing". The 300 costs more than $1100 USD in the US and Canon's various 75-300 lenses are less than 1/5 that amount.

Get the specifics of the lens that you are being offered, including if it is the USM and/or IS model, the aperture and the actual focal length range.

It's same in the company that makes it. Other than that, that's it.
I'd recommend a Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro, a far better lens than the Canon 75-300. Even comes with a bag and a lens hood as well.

Canon has made SEVEN 75-300 lens for the EF mount, though I'm not sure if all have been available in the US:

non-USM I, II, III
USM I, II, III
USM IS

I had a first generation non-USM that I gave away for cost of postage. I think the new owner may be regretting that "purchase". :)

Yeah, he got the short end of the stick! I bought one used at a camera shop, USM II for $89, just because it was something cheap and I could play with telephoto. Even though it's IQ is horrible at any range, I have issued myself the challenge to get a good photo with it. I'm still trying...

He confirmed that it is an L version of the lens. so if he is telling me right, 75-300mm IS USM F4L is what it is.

agreed. there is no lens that even resembles what you just described. just tell the clown to send you a pic of the lens, that shouldn't be too hard...

Ok, it sounds like one of two things are happening here. You are either dealing with a guy who is trying to take your $$, or just someone who is really not all that smart and you can get a good deal with them... But the only 300mm zoom L that canon makes is the 28-300 (correct me if i am wrong)

You'd most likely be better off avoiding this cheater.

This smells real bad. I'd love to see a photo of the actual lens just to see how far off the mark this rogue is.

All tele-zoom (external link)lenses Canon ever made.

I wouldn't deal with this guy...
