I was at an indoor event this weekend with a 30D and EF-S 10-22, no flash.

For a 30D, would everybody find this level of noise acceptable at ISO 800? Thanks!

Indeed, I went to a "C-Drive" event to drive their cars and imbibe on free goods!

Come on! Give me a reason to get a 5D!

I went to one of their C Spot drive events years ago in KC. The AMG ride was fun, too bad you couldn't drive one.

Oh you don't want a 5D... (external link)

(I added alot of the noise obviously)

And yes, for 800 ISO that looks perfectly acceptable

You know you're going to have to buy a new lens. That 10-22 is not going to work with the 5D!!!

How are we supposed to tell you whether or not you'll find something acceptable? Either you think its okay or you don't. I never understand these questions.

That's the spirit! :D Gotta justify a 5d and 16-35 somehow!

For myself, if comparing to a 5D or 1DmkIII, it's probably not acceptable. The 30D is my first and only DSLR, so what it produces is my only real baseline.

But if others with experience with the 20D/30D are telling me this is normal, I'm fine with that.

That's very obvious, given that the OP asked what we thought of the noise:

would everybody find this level of noise acceptable at ISO 800?
