This was my first time taking senior portraits. It helps when your senior is stunning but I think I did pretty well. Let me know what you think.

The lighting on 1 and 2 look a little harsh to me, but 4,6,and 7 are very nice! Good job for your first senior portraits!

Looks great! You're right about the subject...even if you took a bad picture it would still be good because she is so pretty

Overall, I think you're strongest images are the ones where it appears you added light. You're good at that.

The weakest ones are 3&5. They don't fit the series. They are still good shots just weaker than the others. On the other shots,I can see your personal style shining through...on 3&5 just look more standard issue. Ya know, they're still real good...just lacking the signature lighting style of your other shots....

Hope that helps..best of luck with your future photos.

nice shots. I love some of the lighting and the bokeh there. only thing is she seems to be forcing her smile so to me it doesn't look too natural. maybe you need to ease her a little bit to get her to smile. learn some good jokes :-) I'm not that far off from the age of seniors so I'm a little flirty with them and it gets them to smile. :-P but nice job overall with everything.

they look great. Her smile seems tense, I bet if she loosened up a little her smile would really pop. Great job

Wow, I think you did an excellent job on these....I love that they look like Senior Portraits, not just like pictures someone snapped of a senior, which I have seen on here A LOT lately. She, and you, should be very happy with these :)

Aaron;
I've got to go against the prevailing thought here. If as you say, this is your first time, then you are off to a great start. Over all the poses are good and expressions are not too bad. (smile is a bit forced). Lighting is good in all images, but the final product needs some work. All of the shots seem a bit hot. About one half to one stop over exposed. The two headshots (3&5)need white balance adjustments. Here is a quick edit. I opened all in LightRoom, selected one and decreased exposure by one stop, increased fill light by 50. Then synced all but 3&5 with that image. I then opened 3, warmed the white balance a bit and synced that and 5. Needless to say, adjusting each image individually would give better results. Some still need a bit of contrast and some could use a bit of sharpening. This will give you an idea though.

As I said previously they are all good shots and with a bit of tweaking, will make very nice (and saleable) prints.

I agree with the others that her smiles and poses are too forced and strained looking (not all poses though). Not your fault about the smiles, but the pose with the hand under the chin is just not working IMO, too 70's.

Now, as far as lighting, focus, dof, color, and sharpness, these are outstanding. If this is your first time doing senior portraits, my hat goes off to you. Great job. #7 is my favorite. Great color contrast in that one. :)

They don't need tweaking to be saleable in my opinion. They're very well done, damn near perfect and much better than the big companies do.
Some of the edited pictures honestly aren't as good as the originals.
