Ain't life tough:)? And just think, when it gets there it will make you have to start taking pictures with it -- that lens can be a tough boss:)!

no sharpening added, just some minor color and temp adjustments. This is the ideal event lens.

Ever since I got this lens for my 30D, I've been saying that this lens rocks the world for the smaller sensor class of camera, and pics like this paint the picture just fiiiiiine! Unfortunately, for me at least, I gave this lens to my daughter who is at the Oregon Coast right now and out of touch due to storm-related power outages and where I wasn't even able to drive to because of closed roads, so I can't just rush over and grab that lens and take more pics with it...curses! Foiled again!

definately get 17-55 before 24-105 especially for people, you will LOVE it love it - the f/2.8 makes a huge difference

i have 17-55 and 24-105, i really wanted to get the 70-200 f/2.8 IS but couldnt afford it so the 24-105 was my consolation prize

but i wouldnt exchange my 17-55 for any other lens

About....to....pull....the....trigger.

Must....stop....looking....at....THIS THREAD!

Can't believe I'm about to spend this much money on a lens! Started shooting seriously early this year and I'm about to upgrade my XT and Sigma 17-70 to a 30d and this baby (also got a 70-200 F4 and 430ex on the way). Being a complete tightwad I swore I wouldn't let the upgrade bug get me. This forum is so evil!

When I first started researching (before my XT) I figured the kit lens would be just fine. I found a review of lenses and saw that there was a lens that had just 1mm more at the wide end than the kit for like $1000...I just didn't get it back then .

Damn you all! Can't wait to start posting some pics:D.

Chris

Your problem is that you "started shooting seriously":)! Why couldn't you be satisfied with just playing with a point and shoot? Shame on you:):)!!!

I know! I'm in the same boat as you. These forums are terrible on my wallet!!! ouch! I'm even considering selling my 17-85 and putting the money towards this little guy. Any opinions on that?

Watch out! If you do, you'll develop the nasty habit of getting more good shots from your camera! Flee!
