Recently I visited the Georgia Aquarium which is one of the few aquariums in the world that feature whale sharks. The whale shark is the largest living fish species. They were quite impressive to see up close. You can check out a picture at http://1lifephoto.blogspot.com …-at-georgia-aquarium.html (external link)

very nice photo.. rare to see it not crowded! there have been a couple (well maybe only 1, not really sure) of their whale sharks that have died since being there. Hope they got the problem taken care of.

Someone should tell them they are not goldfish.

I'm headed to the Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa next week, and I have no experience with "big" aquarium photography. Any advice on lenses, and exposure levels? What did you use to capture that great image of the whale shark?

FYI, I'll be carrying a 30D, 17-40, 28-135, 50 (F1.4), 70-200 (F4), and 100-400

I used my 24-70L lens on the 5D. The camera was set to 1/100 sec at f/3.5, ISO 1600. This picture was taken at 24mm. You should be able to get some great shots using your 17-40L or 50 f/1.4. Set your shutter speed fast enough to stop the motion of the fish. Don't use your on camera flash. Good luck. Post a pic or two when you get back.
