I was looking into buying a 14mm f/2.8 lens but B&H has been sold out of them for a while, I was wondering if anyone has heard about a Mark II version coming out or any reason why it is out of stock from a lot of retailers.

Its a niche lens with a high price. . .

Good luck with your search.

Have Fun,

Generally, leaks about new lenses are much harder to come by than about bodies and lenses tend to be replaced much slower and at less predictable intervals.

So I haven't heard anything about a replacement for that lens.

I like the idea of a 14L Mark II.

Talk about brining up an old thread. After I posted this I bought the old 14 and now I am planning on picking up the new 14 after I hear how much you love it.

Canon's reps let me play with one recently at a demo. Its stunning on a 5D or 1Ds mkIII. The light fall off is great. I really enjoyed using it. However...its the moment you are off level, things get very pulled, perspective wise. Its insanely wide. I opted for a Mamiya MF lens and shift adapter instead. Wider persepective across the movement with no fall off or problems of the Canon shift lenses. However, i would LOVE to have the 14L II in my set up.
