Hi Guys

I'm calling for your experience here - I have started to use the EOS Utility for demo purposes at college because I can display the settings and results on the big screen - I have now decided to read the instruction manual because when using the Capture Window to set the camera up I cannot get the Timer function to operate - it remains greyed out and also the Exposure meter indicator doesn't display either - I have been through the book and cannot find the answer and I am beginning to wonder if it is only operative on the 1D MkIII and not the humble 40D.

Any comments appreciated

Ray

Hi Guys

This one seems to have fallen on deaf ears like the SOS from the Titanic - although the Titanic did eventually get a response and that relied on good old-fashioned morse code and sparks from a key contact - so to speak. Here we are - 90 years on and no replies from cyberspace.

Anyway, you will all be glad to know I have solved part of the problem - I downloaded the latest version from the canon website and I am now able to use the Timer mode - but alas - the exposure indicator does still not display.

Is anyone out there in cyber space using this software for their 40D?

Regards

Ray-P

I'd like to help you out, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Sorry Petri, but I've never used this software. I suggest try another.
It seems your problem is bigger than Titanic's iceberg!

Whatever else you do I suggest you upgrade your software by visiting the Canon Software (external link) site. Last time I checked the EOS Utilities were at v2.2.1.3. Be aware that if you upgrade the EOS Utilities it is also a good idea to upgrade DPP, Picture Style Editor and Zoombrowser EX as well to prevent interoperability issues.

Oh, and the timer works fine here. I had my 40D set up a few nights ago to do several sequences of seven 4 minute exposures with an gap of 3 minutes between each. All I had to do was sit and watch as the images downloaded to the notebook. 8)

Thanks guys

I didn't for one minute think my signals were lost in cyberspace. I'll do a bit more work with it later.

Regards to you all
