Hi all!
Not really a regular poster around here, but Santa came early and dropped off a 40D and 10-22. After reading through the forum and seeing so many great shots, I decided to get up early and go hunting for some birding shots to test out my 100-400 with the new body.
I'm lucky enough to have some really nice scenery on campus. However, there is the occasional downside to working around a bunch of students at the end of term, as you might be able to spot in this photo...
Anyway, here's the rest of the series. They're all hand-held, mostly with the 100-400. Also my first time trying to shoot birds in flight.
1. Mallard having a bit of a shake
2. Lone Canadian goose
3. Seagull in flight. I found it pretty odd that they were around the Midlands this time of year as we're just about as far away from the sea as you can get!
4. Incoming! One of my better shots but I under-exposed it, so the whites are blown out after PP
5. Moor hen
6. Deliberately blew the sky out to create a bit more of a surreal effect with the UWA... not really a birding shot as such but I wanted to test the 10-22 as well.
Please let me know what you think, and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
PS: Does anyone know any good places to shoot in the UK, Midlands area? There seems to be very little around here.
