24-70 or filter flaring?

While this pic can be cleaned up nicely, the jpg looks like the following. Is this haziness because I shot it with a certain angle of the Sun behind? What about that little rainbow circle? Is this common from the 24-70, or will all lenses do this? I also have a Hoya Pro multicoated filter on as well.

Very likely the filter. Remove it in similar circumstances.

Just for reference...I used the 24-70 exclusively in my studio for several years and never had a single bad case of lens flaring. So I think the lens is probably not the problem.

Shooting into the sun like that is going to be problematic for any lens, and a filter is just going to exacerbate the problem.
