the lady on the phone told me to expect an email with the ups label within 24 hrs.

I also hope I can send it out today otherwise it might not be back before Xmas.

Thanks guys, guess I'm just over-anxious...

They told me 24 hours too, but I got them within minutes. Looks like they're ramping up for more cameras though so they may now need the 24 hrs to process all the requests. They turned my camera in 5 days. I get it back tomorrow!

Okay next question for the ones that got the call, did you receive you email(s) with the shipping label and form right away? I have not received the emails yet but got the (perhaps wrong) impression that I'd be getting the email right away. Probably just my paranoia kicking in. :)

KAC

They called me about 2. I haven't seen the forms yet.

It's been about 6 hours since my call, and I haven't received anything yet either. I suspect now they're dealing with mere mortals, things will not move as quickly as they have for CPS members.

I got my call today as well. The rep said I would get the email within 48 hours. It's somewhat funny that they're giving me an overnight label to send the camera across the bay to Newport News, but they don't have a customer counter to drop it off myself. Flaws of a one-size-fits-all solution....

Although I have the return label now, I can't send it in until after Christmas. I can't miss shots this Christmas, my Mom is extremely ill and I refuse to miss the opportunities right now.

Joe

Absolutely get those Christmas shots. At the risk of this sounding wrong, I will say that I took a group family photo last Thanksgiving - my Dad's last. Everybody in the family has that 8X10 on their wall.

Canon called me yesterday, (I'm in Melbourne), they are all being sent to Sydney for the fix. I need mine on Friday, so its going to Sydney on Monday.

Let me know if it all worked out O.K for you.

BTW, what is a stopper fix ?

I am in Melbourne and have just received my camera back via courier (at Canon's expense). I personally dropped it into their Burwood centre on Wednesday and it arrived back in Melbourne last night. Canon wanted me to pick it up from Burwood today but I couldn't make it, so they reluctantly couriered it. They said they could not guarantee the courier would get it to me by the close of business today, but an hour later it was here.

I am not sure what the stopper fix is, but its listed on my repair sheet. I won't be testing mine out till the weekend. I am impressed with the turn around and I apparently got a free sensor clean as well. I just hope I'm impressed with the alleged fix :)

Thanks for the kind words, from all who gave them. I am 55 this week and my Mom is 78. She told me yesterday she has been diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. For those who know, there is no cure, only the hope of slowing it down. She is in great spirits even though she will have a double on the 20th (one week from today.) This will be a very Christmas yet she has demanded that everyone be upbeat, cheerful, telling jokes so she will have a positive attitude to fight the good fight.

I'm sorry to hear this, Joe. We lost my wife's mother that way a few years ago, and it's a tough deal for everyone concerned. We kept her with us at home and did everything we could to make life seem as normal as possible. She finally passed, and the loss was profound, but we got through it. You will too.

Be happy you have family to give each other support.

You will be in our prayers.

We lost an Aunt several years ago. Yes, it's tough. Remember and celebrate her life. Watch the movie: The Family Stone

You're all in our prayers this Christmas season.

not good news to get so close to xmas, my dad battled through bowel cancer (stage 2 or 3 from memory) a few years ago, its a tough time, i guess from every negative comes some sort of positive though, if there was ever a time in life to get cancer (which there isnt but in todays day and age it seems like every one knows someone who has had it) better to have it later in life , i hope what i am trying to say is coming across the way i want it to.

regardless all the best to you and your family and everyones during this festive season, its just another reminder why photography is so important in our lives.

jujst ordered my 2nd body which is within the serial range, i feel happier doing it this way knowing it will be fixed. Funnily enough i even managed to haggle the price down by $200AUD using the fact i would need to get it repaired and they agreed :) almost $600 AUD cheaper than my 1st MarkIII :(
