just to get this straight, none of you send in a battery with your camera? Just completely stripped down to body cap only?

i was given zero instructions on what to/not to include. mine shipped w/battery because it was in it and i forgot to remove it.

again, it sounds like what you are told varies greatly depending on who you talk to. didn't one person on here post that he was told that the warranty would NOT be extended when in fact it is.

Which reminds me...

When it comes back, I'm going to have to reinstall the hand strap....probably the most difficult thing in the world to do.

I just recieved my phone call this afternoon. The Canon Rep explained the entire process and told me that my shipping label would be emailed in 2 business days. So I should be set Monday or Tuesday. She also said not to pack anything but the camera body and cap, and that the repair would take about 10 days. The rep added that she heard that the repairs were occuring at a much faster pace than 10 days.

I also asked how fixed cameras were supposed to be recognized, and she honestly couldn't answer the question. She definately said the "paperwork" would prove to anyone that the camera was fixed.

I'm not CPS and I called in about 2 days after the news of the fix was posted here.

Edit: Just Checked Email - Label was sent!

They do send you a sheet that fully explains the warranty extension. And you cannot lose this form! That will be proof your camera has been repaired.

They were too busy eating! They flew off a couple of times but like I said, BIFs are not my thing and I suck at it. Especially in close quarters. The motocross track is open Sunday. I'll have to see what I can find tomorrow.

The way I removed mine, it was pretty easy to put it back on, without instructions. Thanks. I actually need to redo my MKII strap as I have the metal clip bass-ackwards.

Ditto me. Got the call today. I am not CPS. Got the e-mail a few hours later (actually - its 2 e-mails - one with instructions and form and one for the label). Was told paperwork would prove the fix. Was told NO BATTERY and NO MEM CARD should be sent. All they want is the body and mirror dust cap. I called in to the list within 48 hours of the phone number posting on this Board.

So, looks like things are rolling now.

I forgot to pull the battery in mine as well. Thought of it 10 minutes after I dropped it off. Oh well, I never got the shots everyone else was, 2000 exposures and it was done. So maybe I'll get a better one! Find out Monday.;)

I called Canon today to make sure I was on the list just to be sure I wasn't lost in the system. I was connected to the Virgina office and sure enough I am on the list. I had asked how many people are being contacted daily and the rep said they are calling at a rate of 30 people per/day. I hope I get my call sometime next week because I would like to use it on my trip to Disney in Janurary! :)

Just picked up my blue dot replacement from my camera store.

This marks the 5th copy of the Mk III that has past through my hands since the initial purchase back in the end of June.

Looking forward to putting through its pace this Sunday!

OOPS!!! Canon UK never gave that info, they just sent a courier to pick the camera up, no other details given... They picked mine up Wednesday and promised to have it back Friday (yesterday) for a shoot today... No camera, no shoot... I said I would wait until next week if they couldn't guarantee return by yesterday, but they promised... Whether the fault lies with UPS or Canon I will have to wait until Monday to find out...
