Mark, I got a raise for next year from the casino so expect to get back on the 1DsMIII track again around the end of February. Sure is nice to have two 1DMIIIs (little 's' on the other end.) Anyway, learn how to use that thing so I can get tips. :-)

Quite a shot, Josh!

I know that you brought that color out with a levels adjustment, as noted before, but I'm curious how much a role the 14-bit depth has to do with the fact that you were able to to this so "easily"...you did shoot in RAW, right?

The weather here has been so lousy that I haven't had the opportunity to exercise my 1D with that kind of sky. It would be neat to take that kind of shot with the 1D, take a dupicate shot with the 5D/30D and see if the results are close!

Thanks guys. :)

Just today I was thinking about how this camera seems to render images in an almost 3D-like fashion. It's a 5D on steroids.

I know folks think I really tried to push the blue in this one. But I could tell that I had nailed the blue sky on the LCD right after I took the shot. Just look at some of the soccer shots I posted over in SPORTS. No amount of PP is going to get blue skies out of those images. I shot this one in RAW. And yes I probably cooled the WB a bit in RAW converter...4700 if I remember correctly...though that's not so cool for a sun set shot. Saturation in RAW converter was maybe +27. In PS I brought the middle levels slider down a bit to increase contrast (90 or so) and I think that did darken the sky a bit. But from other shots I've taken and even some that I've posted here on POTN two words come to mind in regards to the 1Ds3: DYNAMIC RANGE. This camera has it in spades.

Now there is one thing that is starting to frighten me about this camera. When I view images on my screen in actual pixels I'm starting to think that even the L lenses aren't good enough. This sensor rendors so much detail that every L lens can appear weak (fringing). Am I imagining this? Anybody else notice this? And I've been shooting everything at f/8 to f/16. Maybe it's just the 24-105. Maybe it's primes only for this body.

I noticed it a bit going from the 300D to the 30D and then to the 40D. I know it's not as glaring of a difference, and the lenses still look sharp, but it's not the same as it was at only 6.3mp. Pretty freaking awesome just the same though.

aesthetics eh? hmm. I could dig it if there was a version you could wear on your head like a third eye, (or miners lamp) that'd be cool ( and wacky;))

LOL, now that's a watch!

MDJAK-- there is nothing wrong with your shots that couldn't be fixed in 2 seconds in Photoshop. Move the exposre slider a tad to the left and the saturation slider a bit right and you're good to go.

Why Tony? Because it's not about your favorite camera; the Nikon D3?

Hehe!

It's because I still haven't paid off my credit card from buying the 1D and now...it's like an itch you can't scratch:)!

I do hope that your reply was as tongue-in-cheek as my remark on the Nikon thread was!
