Which format do you prefer from these?

Hi all

Here are a couple of my first shots of 2008 (happy new year). Let me know whether you prefer the Landscape version or the Portrait version. I can't make my mind up

Both were taken today on a cold and wet (typical English) day on the south coast, at Selsey, Sussex.

Both shots were taken on a 1DsII with a 16-35f2.8L. Both were shot at 1/60th sec @ f14

For me, definitely landscape....

Both work (and are really nice, btw) but I think I like the portrait framing better. Less dead space.

Landscape.....for me, I like landscape for landscape (generally speaking). Very nice capture!

Interestingly enough, I prefer the vertical layout, but both are captivating images.

For sure the vertical shows the subject the best.

I think the portrait is best, but they are both wonderful shoots.

Landscape for a landscape!

I prefer the landscape as well. I like the space between the edge and the first pile covered in kelp. Great shot Scuff.

This leads me on to another question. Do you take both landscape and portrait format images of every subject you shoot?

As seen from the preferences posted by you all, we like different things. I tend to shoot both ways for each subject, as it gives an option for publishers to choose. Mostly I find that they like portrait format for the full page spread, whereas in these days of the interweb, a lot use landscape as it fits the screen format.

Anyway, it gives you options.
