I recently tried an IR photo with the Canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 lens and got descent results with no hot spots.

So I informed the moderator CyberDyneSystems to add this lens to the -=Infra Red Lens Info & Options=- but he replied

CyberDyneSystems wrote:
On a cold day as I think is depicted in your image, the IR hot spot is less likely to reveal itself..
I think we need to test these lenses on warm to hot days to actually see of we get the hot spot.

So that brings me here to ask anyone with the Canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 lens and an IR filter that has an IR photo taken in warmer weather to please post an example :)

Here is the IR photo taken indoors of a cold snowy day that doesn't count :)

I actually used the 10-22 for a while on an IR modified 20D during a Memphis summer so it was hot enough. I didn't see any hotspots, but it really didn't focus very sharply so I quit using it.

I've seen other sites say the 10-22 is fine with no hotspots...

Roger Cicala,
Did other lenses focus better? ???

10-22 is in the list, tested by the guy himself.

asylumxl,
Thank you, it seems to agree with me (ahh I am not the only one  ). They also have the Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 on the Qualified: list (I have also suggested to CyberDyneSystems to add that lens to the good list for IR, as its been good for IR for me ;) ).

Totally OT - I'm looking at your avatar and it makes me shudder. I finally figured out who it looks like... You're Michael Moore aren't you?

That's what I found with the one 10-22 lens that I tested out earlier this year. I wasn't very impressed with it. Certainly not enough to buy one. The colors were great and the focal length suited me, but it seemed pretty soft to me. BTW, I'm the guy with the return lens shipment in limbo from Washington. I just recognized you. Haven't heard anything back from you yet, maybe you've got it under wraps.

Does using your own shadow count as a leading line?

Are you afraid of having your photo taken? ???

Maybe because you shudder to much? ???
I have found the 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 to be identical in sharpness with my 17-40 f/4L

Yeah, I've heard it both ways on this lens (even here). Makes me think one might wanna weed through the lenses til he gets a good one, if one wants that FL range bad enough on a crop body. I wish I could get the colors from the 10-22 to match with the sharpness of my 17-40. Sounds like you probably got a good one Mike. LOL
