Who had the race car picture ....

showing the heat waves coming out of the exhaust in the back?

Formula One (ish) car and it looked almost slow motion. I believe the pic was taken when the car was at the apex of a curve.

The shot is of the entire car (from the right front quarter)

May have been in the one of the lens archives thread but I can't find it.

Oh wait... I think this one was in the pits but it shows the heat very well. Maybe the one you were looking for, maybe not but it's really cool either way!

I posted a picture in the 500mm that fits your description except on my picture, it was a Ford Sierra Cosworth something. White and green coloured. Posted in the 500mm lense archive. But the image webhost is down now. I'll see if I can dig it up if you want.

I'm fairly certain it's one of Alain Bryant's pictures (Alan B), just look through the topics started by him, there's a couple of Silverstone F1 test topics, both of which have photos that fit your criteria.
