O.K. For the fun of it.

I just purchased this lens. At $80, shipping included, how do you not buy it?

This past weekend, I had the chance to try it on the 5D(which I own) and the 1DIIn(own that too). The nifty fifty was impressive to say the least....sorry no pictures to share since I was at a store.

Considering how pricey this hobby of mine is, it's hard to pass up something that performs as well as this lens does at the price.

Also, I tried the 85 f1.8 and Tamron 28-75 f2.8 on both the 5D and 1DIIn. Both of those lenses(both comparable in price to each other)performed very well.

However, both were 4+ times the price of the nifty fifty.

So again I ask.

How does one not have the nifty fifty in your kit bag?

:)

Well, I had one and used it with extension tubes as a cheap entry to macro photography years ago.

Why would I not buy one now? Well the existence of the 50 F1.4 (not that I own one at the moment), the dust, the poor build quality, noisy focus, nasty bokeh.

Having said all that - it's everso sharp, so for the cash about the best buy possible!

For the exceptional quality for the price, I'll be placing an order very soon. After I pay car bill and speeding ticket that is...

I have one in my kit bag. It's been sitting in there for about a year not getting used. I also bought it to use with tubes for macro, but I found another lens that works better for that application.

The AF is terrible indoors. If it weren't for that it would probably get more use.

I read up and it's true, it's best off in brighter conditions. But hey, if you can manual focus, do it!
Not to mention is a fair trade off for it's cheap crack money price.

I had one and used it mostly for club photography, once in a while a portrait. It certainly paid its own way.

Then my wife glommed onto it for reverse-adapter macro photography with her PowerShot, and I figured I'd never see it again, so I bought myself a 50mm f1.4. So far, I like it, but I haven't done much with it yet. :)

Great lens for the money - I eventually upgraded to the f/1.4 version but really enjoyed the nifty while I owned it :)

That's true. Heck, I spend more on my lunch each week than I paid for that thing

Then I guess you'll never have another lens!
Well...Are you to cheap to snatch one? Yehhhhhhhhhh.
Could always use a toilet paper roll + taping the lens from a pair of glasses = not working at all and motivating you to buy a 50mm f\1.8

Sweet! Do it man, it'll blow your mind!
I've been reading up on the 70-200mm and it's fairly cheap considering it's an L lens. Quality wise, is it a worthy purchase? A lot of reviews say it's a nice sharp lens, I'm seriously considering buying one.
